## Importing Models
You often have a choice of different file formats when downloading models from manufacturer websites. Shapr3D has a range of [acceptable import file formats](https://support.shapr3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/7874523890076-Supported-file-types#supported-file-types-importing). There is also some [community advice](https://discourse.shapr3d.com/t/what-is-the-best-import-format/36462) that suggests that **ParaSolid** is the best format to use because that is what Shapr3D uses internally. Otherwise, STEP is a good choice, however it comes in a range for formats (AP203, AP214, AP242) of which [AP242](https://www.capvidia.com/blog/best-step-file-to-use-ap203-vs-ap214-vs-ap242) is the most recent standard.
