Very versatile backlight option. Long LED strips that can be cut shorter in 3 LED intervals. Very bright. Can be mounted using double sided tape. You need to pull the enable wire high for the LED to turn on.  ![[LEDBacklightDriver.jpg]] |**Name**|**Name**|**Description**|**Colour**| |---|---|---|---| |**Vin**|Positive Power Supply|10 - 30Vdc|Red| |**ENA**|Enable|Pull to Vin to turn the light on|Yellow| |**DIM**|Light level|0-5V with 0V giving full brightness and 5V giving dimmest level (but still on).|White| |**GND**|Negative Power Supply|0V|Black| When used at PepsiCo I did have an issue where some of the individual LEDs would go dim. I wasn’t controlling the DIM input so that may have been an issue, I also cut the LED strip at a random spot (not necessarily a 3 LED section). Didn’t get an opportunity to investigate further. DRP Need to be careful with the connections. The cable that comes with the units has the same plug on either end. If you use one end the colours match up as expected, if you use the other then the red wire will go to GND and black to VIN. If you power up with the wrong polarity the board will blow up. ### Brightness The DIM connection sets the light level. It requires a 0-5Vdc signal. I have used a surface mount resistors soldered directly to the PCB connector in the past. For a 12Vdc supply voltage a 22k and a 10k give 3.75V which is a nice brightness. |Pin|Resistor|Pin|Resistor|Pin| |---|---|---|---|---| |12V| 22kΩ |DIM|10kΩ|0V| ![[DimmerResistors.jpg]] If you have had to cut the number of LEDs in the string to a smaller number it can be important to reduce the brightness. With less LEDs the current needs to be reduced so that they don’t burn out (this happened with an Ovato job).  Often displays include a brightness control knob. This usually runs to the main control card. It would require tracing for each PCB to know if this can be used to dim the display. |**Supplier**|AliExpress| |---|---| |**Part Number**|GYD-9E| |**Cost**|US $10| |**Lead time**|Weeks| |**Includes**|2 x LED Strip, 1 x Driver, 1 x cable| |**Input Voltage Range**|10 to 30Vdc| |**URL**|[Ali Express Link](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LED-Backlight-Lamps-Update-kit-540mm-Adjustable-LED-Light-For-15-24-inch-LCD-Monitor-Universal/32744553122.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6ee14c4dK9EhTY)| ## Signal Towers AKA Traffic lights. Used on machines for providing a fault status. There is a lot of different suppliers, not many with local stock. I found that RS has local stock of Werma KombiSign 72 series. It is difficult to find all the parts that you need. Best option was to get the [Werma Signal Tower Overview](https://www.werma.com/gfx/file/report/brochure/2017/Signalsaeulen-uebersicht_E_neu_low.pdf) document and then copy and past the part numbers in to RS (removing the spaces first though) - [455-3407](https://au.rs-online.com/p/signal-tower-components/4553407) Terminal element, tube mounted, cage clamp - [184-5128](https://au.rs-online.com/p/signal-tower-components/1845128) KS72 TwinLIGHT Yellow ClassicLOOK 24Vac/ - [184-5126](https://au.rs-online.com/p/signal-tower-components/1845126) KS72 TwinLIGHT Red ClassicLOOK 24Vac/DC - [184-5127](https://au.rs-online.com/p/signal-tower-components/1845127) KS72 TwinLIGHT Green ClassicLOOK 24Vac/D - [184-5131](https://au.rs-online.com/p/signal-tower-components/1845131) KS72 Sounder 95/105dB Continuous/Pulse B - [314-7332](https://au.rs-online.com/p/signal-tower-components/3147332) Permanent beacon foot & integral tube
